My teaching follows one principle: internalizing principles for principled externalizing.

Internalizing principles. Students first confront complex organizational problems without theoretical guidance. Through Socratic questioning, they discover the limits of intuition, then learn established frameworks designed to identify the core tension driving the problem. Returning to the original case with the framework in hand cements the principle.

Principled externalizing. Out-of-class team assignments present new, ambiguous challenges, different from the in-class cases but solvable through the principles just learned. Students must diagnose the situation, select the right framework, and defend their reasoning. The output demonstrates not just recall, but application.

In 2024, I received the Ossian R. MacKenzie Teaching Award, given annually to one doctoral student across all departments in the Smeal College of Business for teaching performance. At Penn State, I taught Entrepreneurial Mindset. At Oklahoma State, I will teach organizational behavior.
